Scroll Saw Classes

In October 2003, Debra began working as a scroll saw instructor and retail clerk at the new Woodcraft store (#552) in Franklin, TN, which is owned and operated by David and Lee Ann Sapp. One day per month Debra teaches a scroll saw class onsite at the store, which is located in the Watson Glen Plaza near the intersection of I-65 and highway 96. Each class is hands-on and limited to a total of six students. Click on the class title listed below to jump to the class synopsis.

To get to Woodcraft #552, follow these directions from Nashville, TN:

  • Take I-65 south to Exit 65 (Franklin / Hwy 96)

  • At end of exit ramp, turn right onto Hwy 96.

  • At first light, turn left onto Royal Oaks Blvd.

  • At next light, turn right onto Center Place Ave.

  • Turn left at Backyard Burger into Watson Glen Plaza parking lot.

  • Woodcraft is on your right between Big K and Goody's.

SS101: Introduction To Scroll Saws é

Debra begins the class with a discussion on scroll saw basics including saw, wood, blade and pattern selection. Projects for the class include a practice patterns, silhouettes, and a personal nameplate. Project themes vary by season (Easter, USA Pride, and Holiday Ornaments). Debra will accept younger students, ages 12 and up. This course will receive three contact hours toward Woodcraft University credit.

SS102: Scroll Saw a Multimedia Native American Dream Catcher é

Debra begins the class with a review of scroll saw basics and safety. Learn how to make a Native American dream catcher using the scroll saw and a variety of materials: wood, metal, leather, plastics and more. For students ages 12 and older.

SS105: Sign Making with a Scroll Saw é

Debra begins the class with a review of scroll saw basics and safety. Learn three different methods in sign making: knock-out, appliqué, and relief. Projects include: desk sign and wall plaque. For students ages 12 and older.

SS106c: Scroll Saw a Faux Woven Basket é

Debra begins the class with a review of scroll saw basics and safety. Learn how to make a beautiful basket from two types of wood that looks as if it "woven." For students ages 12 and older.
